In mid-July of 2017 my husband and I closed on our first home. It’s now the last day of July 2019 and I can hardly believe it’s already been two years. Sometimes it feels longer, and other times it feels so much shorter.

When we bought this house we knew it was going to be a major fixer-upper. Like, every room needed work. And the entire yard would need to be redone.

As the one in charge of the yard, I know I have accomplished a lot but I am constantly impatient and wishing I could fast-forward five or ten years just to see how it will all look. So in an effort to make myself slow down and really appreciate all that we have done, here are some photos of the before, in progress, and current state of our home as it looks from the street. Enjoy!

What I have learned about homeownership is that when you buy a house that needs some fixing, you will always be busy fixing! But it’s a labor of love and every project we finish makes the house feel more our own, so it’s completely worth it.

I know I mentioned that every room in the house needed to be redone, and at this point we have taken care of quite a bit. But I’m realizing that each update really deserves its own post, so stay tuned and see what all we have done!
